The first and last 6km have easy grades and slower pace. Extra effort is required to climb the hills in the middle section particularly in Lane Cove Park where three optional hills are included for extra training fun.
In order to average the required pace over the whole distance, riders need to ride more quickly where appropriate to make up for the slower climbing pace and delays on on the shared cycle paths. The entire ride takes less than two hours to return back to the start point at Eastwood Station which allows riders to fit other activities into their day.
